The 4th of October marks World Animal Day. In honor of animal lovers, we’ll talk about 6 pets you can have in your home.
1. Dogs
Having a pet at your home is like adding a new family member. You will be entirely responsible for its food, wellbeing, and health. Even though dogs are high-maintenance pets, having a dog is one of the best experiences you will ever have in your life. Once you train them to obey you, you win a new best friend. There are various breeds of dogs that differ in requirements and needs. So, try to get a dog that matches your space and lifestyle.
2. Cats
Fluffy, hairy, and cute cats make excellent pets in Egyptian households for many reasons. Unlike dogs, cats like to stay indoors and be cozy and quiet most of the time. So, if you’re looking for a pet that showers you with love, on its own terms, and keeps you company, cats are purrrrfect! All they need is a litter box, food, and lots of affection…and attention!
3. Hamsters
If you’re dying to get a pet but your mom is terrified of them, a hamster is the solution. She will not even notice the presence of this tiny creature. When you go about buying a hamster, you have to know that some breeds are sociable, while others prefer to be left alone. In addition to food and water, hamsters also need a lot of litter and nesting materials. They also need to be handled with care because they are very sensitive and delicate.
4. Rabbits
Rabbits are very popular, low-maintenance pets for families. They are a great way to introduce children to the joys of owning and caring for pets. Your daily tasks will be feeding, grooming, exercising, and of course, playing with your rabbit. Rabbits like to socialize, so if you only have one, you need to spend a lot of time with it. Therefore, it is recommended to keep rabbits in pairs. Make sure your mom doesn’t cook them for lunch though!
5. Tortoise
Tortoise is a low-maintenance pet that is quiet, cute, and easy to clean after. The most important thing you need to pay attention to is its diet. They need a variety of foods that supply them with enough amount of fiber. In addition, some species have large appetites, so be ready to buy and prepare large amounts of food. This quiet pet may not be interacting with you the way cats and dogs do, but it is adorable to watch and care for.
6. Birds
Before you purchase birds, you have to know exactly why you need them. Some species are meant to sing beautifully but don’t breed, while others may make annoying sounds, but breed excessively. For example, love birds must be kept with their partners; they die when their partner dies. They also tend to spend 75% of their time in their nests, so you will rarely see or hear them. As a beginner, you can start with budgies, canaries, or small breeds of parrots. It is important to do your research before making a purchase!
